class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">today and I&#8217;ll show you how to install<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">your yui flat dead cam e340 without a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">junction box I&#8217;ve been receiving a lot<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">of comments and emails asking me where<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">they can get the plug-in kit for the UI<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">floodlight cam 340 which I reviewed a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">few months back and I will link it down<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">below if you haven&#8217;t seen it yet I<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">mentioned in that video that one cool<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">thing about this floodlight camera is<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">that you can install this without<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">needing a junction box which most if not<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">all flatlight cameras in the market<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">today require you to do so now ring made<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">a plug-in Mount accessory for their<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">floodlight camps and I also made a video<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">on this a while back and I also link it<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">down below if you&#8217;re interested but this<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mount will only fit ring floodlight<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">cameras now if you have any other brand<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">of floodlight camps I made another video<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">on how to make a DIY plug-in setup for<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">any floodlight cameras that need a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">junction box and I will also link it<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">down below for the yui flood de cam e340<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">this flood de cam is designed to be<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">installed in a junction box but also can<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">be screwed in directly to a wall or<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ceiling and you just need a plug-in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">wiring there&#8217;s no special Mount or kit<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">to buy and I&#8217;m not sure why yui hasn&#8217;t<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">released the plugin cable accessory yet<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">anyways for those that wants to plug<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">this flood light cam in and doesn&#8217;t want<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">to wait for yui to release their cable<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;ll show you what to get and what to do<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">first go to your local Big Box hardware<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">store Home Depot Low&#8217;s or even Walmart<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and get yourself an outdoor extension<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">cord 16 gauge and also links some from<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amazon down below but while you&#8217;re there<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">get some screw in cable clips which are<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the ones used for RG6 cabling so you<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">will mostly find these in the AV or the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">audio visual aisle of the store screw in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the mounting plate of the Yu flood de<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cam e340 and there are multiple holes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">that you can use four screws should be<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">good get your outdoor extension cable<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and depending on the length you need cut<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the outlet part of the cord expose the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">wires which there should be three of<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">them black white and green green and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">strip the wires on the U mounting plate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">remove the rubber plug on the bottom and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">you can feed in the cable through and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">push it on the cable holder piece to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">keep it in place as to the floodlight<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">cam on the back bottom part you have to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">snip off the little tab with pliers to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">have clearance for the power cable hang<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the flood light using the S hook and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">wire in the cable to the flood light the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">wires will be the same colors screwing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the green or ground wire to the green<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">wire black or hot wire to the black wire<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">wire and white to white place the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">connector block to its slot and push in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the cable to its holder to keep<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">everything in place and will be hard to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">pull out then put in the flood light to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the Mount and push down to keep it in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">place then screw in the flood light to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the Mount to secure it for wire<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">management use the screw and cable clips<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">to route and secure the power cord up to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the outlet that you&#8217;re going to plug it<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">in our outdoor Outlets have these<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">weatherproof covers which are also<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">lockable so if you&#8217;re worried about<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">somebody unplugging the flood light then<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">you can use a lock to secure it and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">prevent it from being unplugged the best<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">installation for these flightlight<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">cameras though is still the junction box<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">install Clean looking and no wi showing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">but this is the second best class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">lifehackster here today will be a quick<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">video making a diy plug-in mount for<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">your floodlight cameras so if you have<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the y-scan floodlight ut&#8217;s floodlight<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">cams nest cam floodlight or any other<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">floodlight cameras that needs a junction<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">box to be installed this is for you so<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">keep on watching<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">i excluded ring floodlight cams because<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">they do have their own plug-in mount<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">which i did check and reviewed a few<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">weeks ago and if you haven&#8217;t seen it yet<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">i will link it down below i think all<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">wi-fi security camera companies have now<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">added a floodlight cam model or an<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">add-on accessory to their cameras ring<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">is the first one who innovated this<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">concept four and a half years ago when<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">they added a camera to a floodlight it<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">took a while for other companies to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">follow suit but now in the last few<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">months weiss and nest joined in with<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">their add-on floodlight accessory for<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">their cameras one thing about floodlight<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">cams though is that it needs a junction<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">box to install so it needs either to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">replace an existing flood light or a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">light fixture in your home this is the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">most ideal setup because it is a way<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">cleaner look and the camera just<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">integrates seamlessly with the light but<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">how about people that doesn&#8217;t have a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">junction box or no wiring to the area<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">they want to put the floodlight cams<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">well when i checked out ring&#8217;s plug-in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">mount a lot of you have asked if it can<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">be used for other brand of floodlights<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">unfortunately no because ring uses a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">different type of mounting and any<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">flooded camps that use a central screw<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">to attach the flood lights will not work<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">well today i&#8217;ll show you how to make a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">diy plug-in mount for your floodlight<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">cameras and i actually have been doing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">this all long because this is how i do<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">my setup to review floodlight cameras in<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">my backyard and i&#8217;ll just share this<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">with you guys also big disclaimer here<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">i&#8217;m not an electrician and this method<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">might be frowned upon by licensed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">electricians and city codes so just do<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">your due diligence what you will need<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">are several items an outdoor rated<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">extension cord a plastic round junction<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">box coax cable clips and a zip tie all<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">of these you can easily find in your<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">local big box hardware store but they&#8217;re<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">also available at amazon and will link<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">some of them down below when you open up<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the plastic junction box you will have<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">these threaded covers which you need to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">screw into the holes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">get your extension cord and make sure it<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">is for outdoor use and light duty rating<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">should be fine with a wire cutter cut<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the cable to your desired length we will<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">need to drill a hole in one of the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">covers as close to the diameter of the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">cable clean it out and fit the cable<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">through the hole the tighter the fit the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">better for weather sealing you can then<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">strip the wires a couple of inches<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">should work now to prevent the cable<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">from being pulled out you can wrap a zip<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">tie around the cable and around 4-6<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">inches from the end tighten it and cut<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the extra length of the zip tie and you<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">can see that it will prevent the cable<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">from being pulled out<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">strip the individual wires and time to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">install this setup outside screw in the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">round box in a wall or ceiling and you<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">will need two screws now you&#8217;ll be able<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">to install any floodlight cameras that<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">you like in this case we will install<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the weiss yscan floodlight screw in the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ground wire to the metal bracket and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">screw in the metal bracket to the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">junction box now for the wi-scan flood<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">light because its base is a bit bigger<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">than a rom box and its weather gasket is<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">not able to sit flush in the box then<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">you will need this round gasket which i<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">will also link below and just place this<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">on the back of the floodlight and this<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">will provide the weather sealing hang<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the floodlight with the s hook and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">connect the wires white to white black<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">to black screw in the central screw and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">just make sure that the gasket is well<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">seated on the junction box and now your<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">wi-scan flood light is installed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">time for cable management and what i use<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and recommend are the coax cable clips<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">to secure the extension cord i like them<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">because they are screwed in and not<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">hammered in route the cord and secure<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">with the clips up to the nearest power<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">outlet and you can just plug in your<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">floodlight camera a tip here on the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">power outlet is that if you&#8217;re concerned<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">about somebody unplugging the camera you<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">can add this lockable outlet cover which<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">i have this one for a while now and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">you&#8217;ll be able to lock it using a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">padlock and now it&#8217;ll be harder to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">unplug your camera i will also link this<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">lockable cover in the description down<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">below with this diy mount you now have<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the flexibility in where you can mount<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">your flat light cameras as long as you<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">have a power outlet nearby<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">if you find this
